Steps for Migrating PST file to Office 365 by Drive Shiping Method

What is Drive Shipping of Office 365?
Drive shipping is the importing PST files to Office 365 Account through storing PST Files on hard drive and shipping this drive to Microsoft service center. Once received, MS representative will import PST File to Exchange Online cloud account. Now you should be interested to know about how this process is completed, then read below –
First of all, make sure that all mentioned requirements should be followed by you –
- The company should have a FedEx & DHL account.
- Every user should be provided assigned folder import export role to upload .pst file to O365 web cloud account.
- The preservation timing should be set to unlimited time frame.
- The hard disk into which PST data file is copied should be BitLocker encrypted and 6TB or less in size.
Now follow the given steps to import PST file into Office 365
Step 1. Download Import Tool
Firstly, download import tool and protect storage key and for that follow the given steps –
- Visit https://protection.office.com site and login with your Office 365 id. Click on Permissions >> Data Management >> Import
- On the left side, click Users >> Import. Click on ‘+’ icon and select Ship data on physical hard drives showing under drop down icon.
- A new job page will show, click on Download Tool option to install WAImport Export tool.
- On ship files page, copy the appeared key and save it in a file
- Finally, click on Cancel to close the page.
Step 2. Copy PST file to Hard Drive
- * Open cmd on your system and go with the WAImportExport tool stored location.
- * Then run the given command to copy PST file to hard disk
- * /j: – Name of the Journal File that includes the information about the drive that is being sent to Microsoft center.
- * /t: – the drive letter of the hard disk that is connected to the local system.
- * /id: – name of the copy session for importing PST file to Exchange Online.
- * /srcdir: storage path of stored .pst files.
- * /dstdir: destination route of MS cloud where PST filed will be uploaded.
- * /sk: secure storage key.
- * /logdir: location of log file storage.
- * /encrypt: BitLocker encryption key.
Then run the given command for migrating PST file to Office 365 by WAImportExport.exe tool
Step 3 : Create PST CSV File / Import Mapping
MS data center will copy the PST file from Hard Disk to its Azure data storage. The import service uses date existing in CSV / Mapping file for identifying the user milbox PST file that required to be imported.
Firstly download the CSV file and open it on your computer. It follows the given parameters;
Step 4. Generate PST Import Job
- Now go to Office 365 Admin Center Import page and choose Import Services >> New Job + >> Ship Data on Hard Drive
- From the ‘New Job’ page, verify the options ‘hard drives are ready’ and ‘I have access to mapping file’ & click on Next option.
- Enter the name for PST Import job
- Tap on ‘+’ button & navigate to the location of saved WAImportExport.exe tool
- Upload the journal file >> Next to import PST to Exchange Online storage.
- Now click ‘+’ option and choose the CSV file generated in the previous step and tap on Next button.
- Now provide the contacts information and click on Finish button.
Step 5: Ship Hard Drive
Finally, you have to dispatch the hard drive disk to the Microsoft headquarters. You must save the tracking number and shipping label to track your shipment.
